Arkema Inc. to hold technical presentation at AHR Expo on impact of contamination on low-GWP refrigerants

- Press release
Arkema Fluorochemicals scientist Sarah Kim will present the “Impact of Contamination on the Stability of Low-GWP Refrigerants” at the AHR Expo in Chicago, IL. on Jan. 22, 2018.

This technical session will cover the impact of common contaminants that may influence the system performance and reliability of some very low GWP refrigerants containing unsaturated molecules such as R-1234yf and R-1233zd. In addition, stabilizers which can prevent the deterioration of performance due to contaminants will be discussed.

As low GWP, HFO refrigerants become more widely adopted in the HVAC&R industry as part of the phase out of conventional refrigerants, it will become increasingly important to follow best practices.   This includes refraining from mixing refrigerants and using the recommended lubricants, as HFOs and HFO blends will exhibit a different nature than traditional HFC or HCFC refrigerants.

“In an effort to establish best practices, we have studied the impact of common contaminants that may influence the HVAC&R system performance and reliability of these new refrigerants,” said Kim. “In addition, Arkema has identified stabilizers, which can prevent the deterioration of performance due to contaminants.”

The presentation will be held at McCormick Place, on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, from 4pm to 5pm, in room S101B.

Arkema will be exhibiting at Booth 6547 at the AHR Expo in Chicago, IL, Jan 22-24, 2018.
