The Blooming Prairie, MN site was pleased to host Senator Al Franken (D-MN) recently for a briefing and tour of the facility (all while weathering one of the worst snow storms to ever hit southeastern Minnesota in May – 18 inches of snow!).

Senator Franken is a leading champion in the U.S. Senate for rail shipper issues, such as those faced by the Blooming Prairie facility and many other Arkema and chemical manufacturing industry facilities around the country.  During his visit, he saw, firsthand, the importance of rail transportation to Blooming Prairie’s operations.  Blooming Prairie’s logistics personnel discussed various rail service and shipping issues and the importance of those issues to our business and ability to compete in the marketplace.

Senator Franken, as Chairman of the Energy Subcommittee of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, has a strong interest in biobased materials and products.  While touring the facility, Senator Franken interacted with key technical, lab, operations, and logistics personnel and received a briefing on some of the biobased materials that are manufactured at the plant and by Arkema.
